100% natural emerald beetle wings (Sternocera aequisignata):

You get beetle wing covers from real emerald beetles (Sternocera aequisignata). These insects are native to Thailand, Isaan region and are farmed under the terms of the CITES (Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora Convention). The emerald beetle has a lifetime of about 2 years in the larval stage after which he spends only 3-4 weeks in the adult stage before he dies suddenly shortly after mating.

The shiny metallic wing covers shimmer in their shades of green to blue or gold and are harvested after the natural death of the beetles.

They are very light but have about the durability of a fingernail. Their iridescence is long-lasting and they are often the only remaining adornment on historical dresses or costumes.
